RACING New South Wales have handed down their penalties from the Midsummer Sun inquiry, disqualifying seven people for a total of almost 25 years.

Trainer Sam Kavanagh was disqualified for nine years and three months and fined $3,000. His backdated suspension expires on August 20th, 2024. Kavanagh was found guilty of 23 of the 24 charges involving the use of cobalt, caffeine, corticosteroids and xenon gas on horses in his care that began with the positive tests returned by Midsummer Sun after winning the Gosford Cup in January.
