THE Aidan O’Brien-trained Hunting Horn established his Melbourne Cup credentials with a win in Saturday’s Group 2 Moonee Valley Gold Cup over 2,500 metres. In a slowly run race, Hunting Horn picked up best over the final three furlongs to win by over a length from the Shamus Award gelding Mr Quickie and the Joseph O’Brien-trained Downdraft.

Ryan Moore said: “He’s had some tough assignments. He’s a Camelot and they have a little bit of brilliance.”
