RACING New South Wales have fired back in the programming war that is erupting between Victoria and New South Wales by announcing a A$7.5 million race for four-year-olds that overlaps into the Melbourne Cup Carnival.

Dubbed The Golden Eagle and to be run at Rosehill over 1,500 metres, it is scheduled for November 2nd, Victoria Derby Day, with 10% of the prize money to be donated to a charity, which owners nominate before the race.
