“IT’S a dream come true for me, I’ve now won the Warrnambool Cup, the Wangoom, the Brierly and the Annual, I’ve got the full deck of cards,” relayed an ecstatic Simon Wilde moments after Gold Medals became the first horse in 13 years to complete the Brierly Steeplechase - Grand Annual Steeplechase double.
Victorious on the first day of the three-day carnival, Wilde was satisfied his Elvstroem gelding could return 48 hours later to tackle the A$350,000 feature over 5,500 metres, albeit without Shane Jackson who had already taken the ride on King Of The Forest.
