THE vagaries of the alphabetical system of cataloguing meant that most of the stars in Pat 1 of this year’s Arqana August Yearling Sale came up for sale during the second session. The average on the evening exceeded €300,000, more than 50% higher than that achieved on the opening night.

The top 15 lots over the two sessions brought €400,000 or more, and four stallions accounted for 11 of these stars. Dubawi led the way with four representatives, the recently deceased Galileo had three, while Siyouni and Kingman contributed a pair each.
