IT was a well worthwhile journey from Waterford to Ballivor for Paddy O’Donnell, as he recorded a series of good results at the Meath show. Riding Minority Report, he led the victory lap in the 1.35m Mervue Equine Leinster Summer Tour when stopping the clock in 34.77 seconds. O’Donnell, now tops the leaderboard in this division, having won the opening round at Barnadown in May.

O’Donnell said: “It was a great weekend for the whole team. All the horses went really well, Minority Report and Lucy Penny put in a great performance in the Mervue league, Swing Time was second in the Grand Prix. The day before I won the 1.30m in Ballinamona with Seefin Surprise and my student Julie O’Sullivan Gallagher, qualified for the RDS amateurs.”
