ONCE again Charleville demonstrated how the Munster fixture is in the ‘Super League’ of agricultural shows with a Factor 50 show. What makes this ever-expanding weekend show so good is their willingness to adapt and this year’s show jumping, broodmare and young horse rings were relocated on their 100-acre site.

The recent heatwave triggered both a 10-metre queue at times for the ice-cream van and advance watering of the arenas, where the surrounding mature trees provided welcome shade for wilting humans and equines alike. Charleville’s team of knowledgable horse and pony stewards are another asset and in the area where National Hunt racing began, the welcome return of Henrietta Knight amongst the visiting UK judges was a perfect fit.
