THERE were no higher graded classes down for decision last Saturday at Jordanstown where Cheval Riding Club held the second leg of its Simple Stocks open-to-all dressage league. A clash with Dressage Ireland’s national winter finals in Cavan saw many of the more experienced riders head north for the weekend but judge Pat Ryan still had to assess combinations in five separate classes with birthday girl Geraldine Gaul being her scribe throughout the day.

A newcomer to the ‘winner’s enclosure’ on this occasion was Lauren McCann who topped the scoring in the advanced primary standard class with her eight-year-old bay mare Rising Star (75%). Cheval treasurer Triona Dever, who looks after the results for the League, was second on her seven-year-old Mermus R mare Kilcarna Fancy (72.61).
