FANTASTIC tracks were built in Boswell for the last TRI Equestrian Interschools competition before the Christmas break. TRI Equestrian Open Team competition winners Gorey Community School took a very well-deserved first place with the team of Ciara O’Connor on Gleann Princess, Angelica McGee riding Abbeybrook Aurora, Lauren Spencer on Sparrow and Naomi Doyle and Parc na Ruarc seeing off Blessington Community School in second.

Dufus, ridden by Mia Cullen, Ciara Whelan (Milly), Kyra Griffon (Don) and Jessica Flood (Walter) represented Blessington. Third place went to the Borris Vocational team of Caoilfhionn Lawlor on Adrigole Atto, Cathy Doyle (Boley Boy) and Anna Murphy (Pem Boy), ahead of East Glendalough and St Gerard’s Bray.

The league table looks very competitive now with these new placings. Kathy Doyle (Boley Boy) for Borris Vocational School claimed the TRI Open Individual class ahead of Baylee Neville (Drumlane Oscar) and Caoilfhionn Lawlor (Adrigole Atto) in third.

The remaining league points went to Grace Berry and Conor Doyle. The Horse Sport Ireland 1.10m qualifier was won by Ballyorney Rua ridden by Jennifer O’Brien for Loreto Bray with Angelica McGee on Abbeybrook Aurora from Gorey in the runner-up position.

The three-person team from East Glendalough School of Brian Medlycot (Little Lady Lucy), Rosie Coad (Blackhall Summer) and Anna Morrisey (Holiday Last Stand) won the Novice Team event in a very fast time that proved too fast to be beaten. Newbridge College made a good attempt but had to settle for the runner-up slot. Representing Newbridge were Cornaughy Noel and Sarah Fleming, Basil Brush ridden Mia Browne, Kilmoree Brida and Louise Maguire and Mia Monahan on Saltre Imperial Commander. Third place was claimed by Holy Child Killiney ahead of St Gerard’s, Presentation Wexford and Loreto Secondary School.

The EII 90cm qualifier was a very competitive class. Basil Brush, ridden by Mia Brown for Newbridge College, took pole position with Brian Medlicott from East Glendalough riding Little Lady Lucy in second and Aoife Lenihan on Dudes Law in third.

In the final competition, the novice individuals, victory went to Saltre Imperial Commander ridden by Mai Monaghan for Newbridge with Enel Caballo Gris ridden by Harry Barton in second and Riverdale Countess ridden by Amelia Durkan for Holy Child in third.
