THE culmination of the Maryville Stables Winter League brought riders of all levels to the Co. Cork venue last weekend, all aiming to take home their share of the prizes on offer at the 12th and final leg of the popular series. With league champions to be decided across 20 classes, the table in the warm and cosy canteen struggled to hold the prizes that were generously supplied by O’Brien’s Saddlery and league hosts Alan and Jennifer Molan.

The 2019 league has been one of the busiest yet and as expected, competition was intense at pony level. Despite having an unlucky fence down in the final, Tom Collins (Delightfully Extravagant) brought home the Newcomers league title; having accumulated points in all but one stage of the series.
