THE newly formed Kildare Branch of the Irish Draught Horse Breeders Association (IDHBA) hosted their inaugural one-day event at Marguerite Lodge in Co Kildare, last weekend.

Despite a bout of persistent bad weather in the lead up to the event, the show went on, by kind permission of the Byrne family. Branch members worked tirelessly to put on a good show, and that they did. They hosted three classes on the day, a pure-bred Irish Draught class, a traditional Irish horse class and a class for leisure horses – all of which had plenty of entries.
