NINE teams representing seven clubs came forward for the West Leinster RDS Qualifier, hosted by Rathfarnham Riding Club in the stunning setting of the walled garden at the National Horse Sport Arena, Abbotstown. A thrilling finish saw Greenhills Riding Club take the winning ticket for the second successive year.

After the first round, three clubs carried forward zero faults, Abbeylands, Greenhills, and Moyglare with hosts Rathfarnham hot on the heels with four to carry. Faults for Abbeylands and Rathfarnham in the second round ruled them out of the running.

A two-way jump ensued to decide the winners. Greenhills’ captain Grainne Alexander and Cheeky Blonde were drawn first to go and this experienced duo set the pace with a faultless round, putting the pressure on capable Moyglare captain Marie McGreevy riding La Bouvieres Clover. However, an unlucky fault at the last fence in a fast time for Marie saw the Greenhills team secure the RDS ticket.

Best of luck to Greenhills at the RDS and also to Moyglare who will get a chance of a wildcard at the AIRC Festival.
