LAST Sunday, competitors in the Connolly’s Red Mills eventing qualifier hosted by the Shillelagh & District Branch of the Irish Pony Club descended on the Tinahely Riding Club grounds at Coolboy, Co Wicklow, knowing exactly where they were to be for all three phases thanks to superb online maps provided by the organisers.

The Carlow Branch initiated a double in the Intermediate class through Jude Donohue who followed up his win at Stradbally seven days earlier with victory here on Caspers Midnight Dream. Donohue and the 12-year-old Templebready Bo’sun gelding completed on their dressage score (29.8) as Bray’s Nicola Holland, who led on 27.8 after the first phase, had a show jump down with Little Ms Sunshine to drop to third. The pair were split by the consistent Island combination of Ava Dowley and Robin Hood’s Gentle Cloud (30.3).
