COURSE builder John Doyle had one bit of advice to those taking on his course at Barnadown for the AIRC South East qualifier of the Horseware Team Show Jumping Championships, and that was to keep all the poles in the cups!

Eighteen teams from across the South East region took to the main arena under the watchful gaze of judges Michael O’Connor and Brenda Fleming. Doyle’s course proved problematic for the early riders with some falling foul of the poles while others struggled with the time allowed. After the first-round nerves had been settled, only one club – Carne RC yellow – managed to meet Doyle’s task, finishing the round on a clean sheet and well inside the time allowed.
