PADDY O’Donnell certainly got his summer season off to a good start, clinching a win in the first round of the 1.35m Mervue Equine Leinster Summer Tour at Barnadown. Riding Minority Report, he took home the winner’s share of the €2,000 in the Cooper International Horse Transport-sponsored class when he lodged the winning clear in 36.05 seconds. This is the second good result for this pair of late, having won the penultimate round of the Connolly’s Red Mills Spring Tour at Warrington.

Owned by Joanna Rimmer, the 16-year-old gelding Minority Report, who was bought as a four-year-old in Goresbridge was previously called Finnegans Whiskers. He was campaigned by his owner on the eventing circuit in Britain up to CIC3*. Last year, under O’Donnell’s command, the combination finished second at Cavan International, seventh in the Derby Qualifier in Hickstead CSI4* and sixth in the Derby.
