WITH a full range of classes, along with Balmoral qualifiers on the packed schedule at Cavan Equestrian last weekend, it came as no surprise that the busy centre was a ral hive of activity.

The 1.30m Balmoral Grand Prix qualifier proved to be a very competitive class. A familiar face in the winners’ encloser at Cavan, Shannon MacKenzie returned to the podium when she partnered Bens Lady Lux to victory. Casey Phair and Metrails followed closely behind for second, ahead of Simon Scott and his own Jasmine Tide. A solid performance from Shane McCloskey aboard Gillian Doherty’s Cooleyhill Bonzo C saw him slot into fourth place. Accounting for fifth place was Harriet Cooper on Sinead Healion’s Annaghmore Small Hero, and completing the top-six line-up was Sara McMordie riding Drumaclan Jack.
