AS throughout the country, the sun shone on the recent parade and show of male Clydesdales at the Livestock Market in Kilrea, Co Derry where judge Jim Rochead, a past president of the Clydesdale Horse Society, awarded premiums to the two stallions forward.

These were the three-year-old Carnaff Trueform, who was home-bred by his owners, the McKay family from Dervock, and Geoffrey and Lesley Tanner’s Doura Aird Ambition, who is by Doura King Maker out of the Carnaff Inspiration mare, Lagavar Blossom.

The youngstock show champion was Terry and Ruth Mills’s Agivey Admiral, a yearling colt by Rosehall Apollo who was bred locally by David Patterson out of his Rosehall Calypso mare Agivey Sophie, while Pat O’Boyle stood reserve with Bratlach Pureline. This two-year-old colt by Bratlach Millinhillhead Gladiator was bred by John Drummond out of Bluefield Hope.
