WE live in stressful times, in a world of uncertainty, insecurity and sometimes threat. The busy 24/7 ‘switched on’ nature of our lives gives rise to all sorts of pressures and fears, together with a feeling of being overwhelmed and being on ‘red alert’ a lot of the time. All this can lead to adrenaline overload and anxiety.

Most anxiety disorders begin in late teens and early twenties, but people often do not seek help for many years. At this point their anxiety may have restricted their lives and their ability to engage in school, college, work and relationships. Some will have developed a problem with alcohol or other substances as they attempt to cope.
