AIDAN O’Brien registered his 11th win from the last 11 renewals of the Group 2 Beresford Stakes as Luxembourg (105+) lit up the Curragh with a blistering turn of foot to seal the race and project himself to the head of the betting for the 2022 Derby.

The overall race time was nothing special in comparison to the other races on the day, which incidentally all took place on the straight track. This arguably makes any like-for-like assessment meaningless as the ground on the round track at the Co Kildare venue has been quicker all season. That was also the case on Sunday to support my view.
