His absence for 251 days tempers a little enthusiasm but Soloman Lane has a number of other factors in his favour. He ran well on his last visit to this track in January, is probably operating over close to his ideal trip and Jody Townend is a positive booking in this ladies-only race.
Binge Worthy is 7lb lower over fences than hurdles after two chasing efforts that failed to reveal much fireworks, but he’s capable when putting it all together, represents a top stable and his rider Abbie Fitzgibbon impressed when riding a winner at the Navan Racing Festival recently.
SELECTION: SOLOMAN LANE

Narciso Has looked a promising sort when winning on his hurdling bow in France in April and Willie Mullins has since told the Sporting Life that his new recruit “looks Triumph Hurdle material”. He must have a big say if ready enough on his Irish debut. It does bare remembering, though, that Mullins has saddled the favourite in the last three renewals of this race and all were beaten (including Willy De Houelle at 1/4 last year).
Mange Tout has the advantage of a recent run and also arrived from France with a big reputation. She’ll need to improve on what she showed when winning on her Down Royal stable debut earlier this month but the application of a hood could help bring out the best in her.
SELECTION: MANGE TOUT

If he’s sharp enough on his return from a break, Verdant Place looks one to have a big say off an attractive weight of 10st 6lb. The Pat Foley-trained seven-year-old has proven a strong stayer at three miles on multiple occasions and now gets his first chance at an extreme stamina test like this. It has the potential to bring out more in him. Simon Torrens has been aboard for all four of his wins (and his last five starts) and maintains the partnership now.
Cork National winner Lonesome Boatman is a guaranteed stayer for the shortlist, though he’s up 9lb, while Nine Graces could surprise a few if back to her best form and putting in a blemish-free round of jumping.
SELECTION: VERDANT PLACE
Next best: Nine Graces

Given the high level that Colcannon had been running to in bumpers, it looked a smart display from Koktail Brut to dish out a nine-length beating to that rival in a Punchestown maiden hurdle 17 days ago, and the stable’s runners have generally been improving from their seasonal reappearances. He also receives a 3lb swing at the weights with younger, main market rival Love Me Tender, who won a weak Grade 3 novice hurdle at Tipperary last month. He looks classy, but eight of the 10 runners were winners last-time-out so there is some depth to the contest - this is stronger than the races he’s been unbeaten in so far.
SELECTION: KOKTAIL BRUT
Next best: Love Me Tender

Emmet Mullins and Donagh Meyler won this race in 2022 with Merlin Giant and the pair couldn’t be coming here in better form with their Galway stalwart Teed Up. The battle-hardened eight-year-old ran creditably when third in the October Handicap at Leopardstown last time and now makes his first hurdles appearance away from Ballybrit since March 2022. His last two hurdles victories have come over an extended two miles so the trip should be fine. Puturhandstogether, winner of the Irish Cesarewitch last time, meets Last Kingdom on 4lb better terms than when they finished 1-2 in the Lartigue. Eoin Staples’ 7lb claim is another positive for Joseph O’Brien’s contender.
SELECTION: TEED UP
Next best: Puturhandstogether

Grangeclare Park always appeared to have been held in top regard during his point-to-point days with Colin Bowe, bolting up by 18 lengths at Curraghmore in April, and it will be exciting to watch whether he can live up to the hype on his first start in a bumper for Gordon Elliott after a private sale.
Lultimatom cost £225,000 after winning between the flags for Paddy Turley in March, and now appears for Willie Mullins and Gigginstown. Endless Talking also makes his rules introduction after changing hands privately from Donnchadh Doyle to join Gavin Cromwell following a point-to-point win in April.
SELECTION: GRANGECLARE PARK
