PETER JOHN Carberry won a €11,040 chase on board Docteur De Ballon for his sister in law Louisa at Bordeaux le Bouscat on Tuesday.

Carberry was notching up his eighth winner of the season in France where his brother Philip had a distinguished career at the highest level.

The Carberry stable, which has 37 horses in training at present, is ticking over nicely at Senonnes with eight victories and over €225,000 in prize money earned.

On running on the same card, Zafiro gained a deserved first group success in the Prix Andre Baboin when he stayed well to hold off the challenge of the Roger Vanian-trained Morando.

Jean-Claude Rouget had supplemented Zafiro into the contest. Ridden by Jean-Bernard Eyquem, the five-year-old was running over his best distance he collared Morando well inside the final furlong.
