EIGHT paintings by the late Basil Blackshaw are due to be sold at Whyte’s auction of important Irish art which takes place at the RDS from 6pm on Monday.

With catalogue numbers running from 68 to 75, the works include oil on board paintings of the stallions Hyperion (Lot 70) and Be My Native (Lot 71) and an oil on canvas painting of a Grey Horse in a Stable (Lot 69). There is a great sense of movement and energy in the oil on canvas work Horses Exercising (Lot 68), part of which features on the cover of the catalogue.

Viewing takes place from today until Monday (10am to 6pm daily) while online bidding is now open.
