1.40 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden 5f

Lady Penelope may just be better suited to this tight track than one or two of her main rivals. Placed on both starts to date, the daughter of Night Of Thunder went close at Tipperary last time and does not need to improve a great deal to go one better.

Schroders Mistake caught the eye on her racecourse debut, running on under tender handling having been slowly away. Although outclassed when upped in grade last time, she should appreciate the drop in class here. She would have been a confident pick on another track but might just find herself tapped for toe around these bends.

SELECTION: LADY PENELOPE

2.15 Irish EBF Supporting Irish Champions Weekend Maiden 5f

Cruella Dovil has had numerous chances to break her maiden tag but appears to have been found a perfect opportunity. A prominent racer who excels around tight turns, she has gone close in better company than this and possesses plenty of racing experience. If she is ever to win a race, this must be the day.

Pulse Of Shanghai made a very pleasing debut for these connections when a close fourth at the Curragh recently. A reproduction of that run would give him every chance now. However, the draw has not been kind on this occasion and it will take a massive effort to win from such a wide berth.

SELECTION: CRUELLA DOVIL

Next Best: Pulse Of Shanghai

2.50 Foran Equine Irish EBF Auction Maiden 7f

Natural Power has by far the best form on offer here although he has a difficult draw to overcome. Perhaps over this longer trip he may just have the time to negotiate that hurdle and come home in front. The form of his Galway maiden second has already been well franked since by both the winner and third placed horse. See The Eagle Fly could be an interesting horse at a bigger price. Tom Cooper does well with his juvenile runners and is making a long trek up from Tralee with just the one horse. Wayne Lordan is a positive booking and the filly is well drawn.

SELECTION: NATURAL POWER

Next Best: See The Eagle Fly

3.25 Taylor Group Nursery Handicap 7f

Eclector appears to be improving with racing and enters handicap company off a fair mark. He tried to make most at Killarney last time but just didn’t last home over the extended mile. Dropping back to 7f looks a smart move and the addition of first-time blinkers could also eke out that extra improvement.

Mia Figilia is almost certainly better than she has been able to show thus far. In fact the Moyglare owned filly arguably ran her best race when keeping on late in a maiden over this course and distance last month. She could have done with a kinder draw but if she breaks well she might just play a hand at the finish.

SELECTION: ECLECTOR

Next Best: Mia Figilia

4.00 Weatherbys General Studbook Handicap 1m2f

Spruce Meadows has been gradually dropping down the handicap this season despite giving the impression he still has plenty to offer. The Feane-trained six-year-old has been unlucky on a couple of occasions, including on his most recent start at Leopardstown. It is surely just a matter of time before he gets his head back in front and this is easier than recent assignments.

Acari has to be respected after a fine win at the Curragh last time. The penalty he picked up for that success is almost entirely offset by his excellent young rider now. The trip is unlikely to be an issue either as he has plenty of placed form at that distance.

SELECTION: SPRUCE MEADOWS

Next Best: Acari

4.35 Racing Tv Handicap (Div I) 1m4f

Stander is well treated relative to his hurdles mark and showed ability when last seen on the level at Bellewstown. A race of this nature should be well within his compass and with Nathan Crosse taking off 5lbs, he races off a featherweight now. In a race where many of the leading fancies are drawn quite wide, he has to be a solid each-way bet.

Gin Bramble has shown next to nothing in four career starts but catches the eye towards the foot of the handicap. Stepped up markedly in trip, with a first-time visor, and Wayne Lordan booked, she has to at least be worth a second look.

SELECTION: STANDER

Next Best: Gin Bramble

5.10 Racing TV Handicap (Div II) 1m4f

A Few Bob Short had been very consistent last season and duly got off the mark on his return at Gowran Park last month. He disappointed at that same venue recently but may just have bounced after that seasonal debut. He arrives here just 3lbs higher than his win and with an excellent claimer taking off 5lbs, he is actually running off a lower mark than at Gowran.

Malbas won at Bellewstown in midweek and carries an automatic penalty now. He has to race from a wider draw now so will find life tougher in this company. Despite all that, he still holds leading claims in an ordinary affair.

SELECTION: A FEW BOB SHORT

Next Best: Malbas

5.45 Ladbrokes Ulster

Cesarewitch Handicap 2m2f

Cliff House looks to have been laid out for this feature and should take plenty of beating. One of the higher rated of these over hurdles, he had an eye-catching prep for this contest when second at Tramore last time.

The step up in trip will suit him even better and he receives plenty of weight from some of his rivals.

Linger has been in excellent heart these past few weeks, so cannot be discounted despite continuing to rise in the weights. He looked to have plenty in hand when scoring at Galway and was unlucky over fences since then.

SELECTION: CLIFF HOUSE

Next Best: Linger
