WEST Coast Belle kept her record perfect in three starts when coming from off the pace to take the Grade 2 Golden Rod Stakes for two-year-old fillies at Churchill Downs last Saturday. Six wide on the turn, the homebred filly took charge and raced to a length and quarter victory for Shaun Bridgmohan. She comfortably held off runner-up No Fault Of Mine.

West Coast Belle won as the 8/5 favourite for the mile and half a furlong test, while becoming the second graded stakes winner for Gainesway’s leading sire Tapit. Earlier his three-year-old daughter Snowbell won the Grade 3 Comely Stakes at Aqueduct. “I had a perfect, ideal trip,” Bridgmohan said. “I just had to sit there until it was time to go, press the button and she was all professional.
