GRADE 1 winner Miss Temple City began to caulk the cracks on a stop-and-start season by winning the Grade 3 Kentucky Downs Ladies Turf last Saturday. The five-year-old mare snapped what seemed like a long losing streak but was actually just two races (13th in the Queen Anne at Royal Ascot and a third in the Grade 3 Matchmaker), handling the undulations at the unique course and turning away five rivals in the $350,000 stakes. Trained by Graham Motion, Miss Temple City won for the seventh time in her 19-race career.

Later on the card, Oscar Nominated snapped an eight-race losing streak, dating back to a Dueling Grounds Derby win over the same course a year ago. Trained by Mike Maker, the four-year-old son of Kitten’s Joy rebounded from an eighth-place finishing (beaten just under three lengths) in the Grade 1 Arlington Million.
