JOHN Dwan of Ballyreddin Stud is sitting on a €40,000 investment made in 2015, but one that would appear to be increasing in value all of the time. The money was spent at Tattersalls Ireland on a Milan half-brother to Altior and since then the Nicky Henderson-trained son of High Chaparral has not put a foot wrong.

He has won all of his five starts since, and is now a Grade 1 winner over hurdles at the Cheltenham Festival (the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle by seven lengths from Min) and a Grade 1 winner over fences after landing last weekend’s Grade 1 Racing Post Henry VIII Novices’ Chase at Sandown. With eight wins from 10 starts already amassed, Altior is one of the more exciting horses at the moment in National Hunt racing.
