Wexford’s Bertram Allen completed an astonishing 24 hours at the Swedish four-star show in Stockholm, by winning his third new car of the weekend with the grey mare Molly Malone.

Allen collected a new Volkswagen Tiguan on Saturday night after victory in a speed class with the 12-year-old Molly Malone, and the same pair won another new Volkswagen at the Swedish venue this afternoon in the feature Grand Prix. They produced the only double clear round of the competition to take a commanding victory.

The result saw Bertram Allen crowned leading rider of the show where his prize was of course another new Volkswagen car. Twenty-one year old Allen also won three cars at the same Swedish venue in 2015 and this weekend’s haul brings to nine the total number of new cars won by Allen before he has reached his 22nd birthday.

Meanwhile, at the five-star World Cup show at Madrid in Spain, Tipperary’s Denis Lynch scored a fifth place finish in the feature Longines World Cup Grand Prix with the stallion All Star.

Lynch posted a double clear round to collect over €9,000 and the result moves the Tipperary rider up to 11th place on the World Cup league table, one place ahead of Cian O’Connor in 12th. Shane Breen lies in 14th spot.

Former World No.1 Marcus Ehning from Germany brought the Madrid crowd to their feet with a stunning jump-off round to take the winners prize riding the 11-year-old stallion Comme Il Faut.
