BELGIUM’s Jerome Guery showed that he is a real force to be reckoned with in the looming Rio Olympics when he partnered Grand Cru van de Rozenberg to an impressive win in the Longines Grand Prix of La Ville de la Baule at the five-star show.

Only 11 of the 49 starters in the 1.60m Grand Prix went clear over Frederic Cottier’s track. Co Meath’s Cian O’Connor and Good Luck finished round one with one fence down and a time fault which ruled them out of contention while Wexford’s Bertram Allen (20) and Romanov (18) jumped clear to make it into the jump-off.
