MANY of those who competed in The Irish Field dressage section of last week’s Association of Irish Riding Clubs’ annual two-day festival will also contest the national dressage championships in August.

However, there will be no Prix Caprilli competitions then as there were on Sunday when the winners were Kerry’s Caroline Songhust Stiles on her 20-year-old Irish Draught gelding Carriglea Chieftain (Primary) whose recovery from injury is covered in Pony Tales (page 118), Treegrove’s Elaine Lynch with her 2017 winner I Go Hugo (Advanced Primary) and Clonmel’s Sarah Jane Weissenbach riding the 11-year-old piebald mare Freyas Choice (Intermediate).
