BETWEEN midweek sales and weekend shows, this is a busy time at Cavan Equestrian where Irish Draught breeders congregated on Thursday for a sale of foals, yearlings, broodmares and a few older geldings.

The atmosphere was a lot better than on Wednesday, where the number of horses catalogued increased from 75 last year to 150, but only one horse more changed hands, up from 47 to 48, with the average dropping from €1,508 to €1,195.
