IN 1891, that is 44 years ago, Mr Harry Beasley won the Grand National on Come Away. On Monday at Baldoyle, now over 80 years of age, he took the mount on his own filly, Mollie, and finished fifth in the fieldof six for the Corinthian Plate. As a tour de force in defiance of age, the feat can be looked upon as magnificent, but was it wise? After all, and whether we like to admit it or not, age deadens most faculties, and perhaps that of balance most of all.
