Conor McGregor has popped up in a promotional video for this month's $12 million Pegasus World Cup at Gulfstream Park in Florida.

The January 28th race is set to feature Arrogate and California Chrome in a rematch following their 1-2 finish in the Breeders' Cup Classic last November.

The brainchild of racetrack owner and racehorse owner Frank Stronach, the Pegasus World Cup will be the world's richest horserace. It will be run over nine fulongs on dirt and 12 starting slots have been sold at $1 million each.

Coolmore bought one of the slots but recently sold it to Juddmonte Farms, owners of Arrogate.

Each entrant will be permitted to pre-enter two horses. A pre-entered horse that does not draw into the Pegasus World Cup would be eligible to compete in the newly created Poseidon Stakes, which will be run under similar conditions but will offer a $400,000 purse and require a $20,000 entry fee.

The race will be shown live on At The Races.

In this video, also featuring comedian Jon Lovitz, McGregor tells reporters he is switching sports and will ride the winner of the inaugural Pegasus World Cup.

This is the first of four promotional videos for the race starring McGregor and Lovitz. As part of this '13th Jockey' series, McGregor also did this Q&A session with the race promoters:

Q: People may have expected your first video series would focus on action or fighting. What is it about the Pegasus World Cup Invitational that appealed to you?

McGregor: It's an honor to be the face of an event like this (Pegasus World Cup Invitational). Horse racing has a big presence in my country and I'm proud to share it with the biggest horse race in the world.

Q: What happens to you in the story of the ‘13th Jockey’?

McGregor: “I GOT PAID.”

Q: Could you ever see yourself owning a racehorse and if you did, what would you name the horse?

McGregor: “Yes. Don Julio.”

Q: Many consider you to be a fashion plate. What do you suggest that every gentleman should wear to the Pegasus World Cup Invitational?

McGregor: A fat wallet.

Q: If I have never watched a horse race before, why should I watch the Pegasus World Cup Invitational?

McGregor: “Because it is the most prestigious event there is, with the most money on the line.”

Q: What is it about the sport of horse racing that you like?

McGregor: Winning money.

Q: Do you and your crew go to the horse races together?

McGregor: All the time, we love to win money at the races.

Q: For the story of the ‘13th Jockey’ how did you train for the big race?

McGregor: I am always in shape. I am always ready.

Q: So will any of these techniques make it into your training ritual?

McGregor: Yes. Variety is the spice of life.

Q: Would you consider naming your first child Pegasus? It has a nice ring to it.

McGregor: No! Ha! I love Pegasus but I’m keeping that one secret for now.
