THERE was a good two-day meeting at the Curragh last weekend, though the second day suffered from rain-softened ground and some small fields. The time highlight, in relative terms at least, was the win of Ballydoyle in the Debutante Stakes on day one.

A timefigure of 109 is below some of those mentioned for juveniles elsewhere in this piece, but only just, and is narrowly the best by an Irish-trained two-year-old of either sex this year. The daughter of Galileo has always looked a better long-term prospect than most of the other youngsters to have achieved a useful level of form already.
