The Irish Field & Finlay Motor Group giving more Horsepower to Trainers

The Irish Field and Finlay Motor Group have joined forces to offer trainers the chance to win the use of an Equi-Trek Sonic 3.5tonne horsebox for a year.
Trainers will be awarded points based on their results at nine different meetings, starting with the Easter Festival at Fairyhouse next weekend and ending with the Listowel Harvest Festival in September.

The flat and National Hunt trainers will battle it out over the next six months and the one with the most points after the final race in Listowel will be deemed the winner.

The meetings covered by the competition are:

• Fairyhouse April 24th-26th
• Punchestown May 3rd-7th
• Curragh May 21st- 22nd
• Curragh June 24th-26th
• Bellewstown July 1st-3rd
• Galway July 25th-31st
• Tramore August 11th-14th
• Killarney August 23rd- 26th
• Listowel Sept 11th-17th

Leo Powell, managing editor of The Irish Field, said: "This is a wonderful opportunity for both flat and National Hunt trainers to compete against each other and there is a really smashing prize up for grabs. This will be a great focus for the summer months and I look forward to following the progress of all the trainers during the competition. I wish them all well."

Mike Finlay, managing director of Finlay Motor Group, added: "The Equi-Trek Sonic truck has been a real winner for us since we took the agency in Naas and Belfast last year. Not just because it can be driven legally on a car licence but mainly because it makes financial sense.
"The low road tax and low fuel consumption are very important these days but the main thing is that we can sell these, brand new, from only €26,000 plus VAT. They are some of the reasons why Equi-Trek are now building one truck every hour and have waiting lists all over Europe."
