Pinhookers Willie Browne and Con Marnane were involved in some of the main transactions on day two of the Deauville October Yearling Sale on Tuesday.
As the second session drew to a close, turnover for the 178 individuals sold stood at €6,788,000, a 10% decrease from 2010.
Browne was the underbidder for the day's top lot, a daughter of Danehill Dancer, sire of Dancing Rain.
This filly is the second foal out of the unraced Alpha Lupi, from the family of Miesque.
There was no shortage of admirers for the Haras de Fresnay-le-Buffard offering, and the price quickly soared until Laurent Benoît and Willie Browne remained to battle it out. The Frenchman had the last word at €265,000.
Con Marnane paid €115,000 for a colt by Dansili out of listed performer Seal Bay, from the family of Torrestrella.
Angus Gold of Shadwell had to go to €120,000 to see off Robert Collet for another Dansili colt.
The sale continues on Wednesday. More details in The Irish Field on Saturday. Online from 10pm Friday.
