Van Ellis (by Shamardal) has won the Listed M&S Bank Queensferry Stakes over 6f at Chester, his fourth win and first blacktype success.
The Mark Johnston trained three-year-old was bred by D.A. Yardy, and he is a 140,000gns graduate of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale. He is the fifth foal out of the middle-distance stakes winner Jalousie (by Barathea), and his siblings include the multiple scorers Kings Destiny (by Dubai Destination) and Zubova (by Dubawi).
Shamardal (by Giant's Causeway) stands at Kildangan Stud.
