Invincible Spirit to cover SH mares

Article Date: 23-July-2012

Invincible Spirit will cover mares to southern hemisphere time at the Irish National Stud later this year.

A press release issued on Monday afternoon by McKeever Bloodstock read:

"McKeever Bloodstock, in an exclusive deal with the The Irish National Stud, is in a position to once again allow Australasian mare owners access to this Champion sire at a price of €20,000 (approx A$24,000). His Northern hemisphere fee of €60,000 sees his book full year in, year out. The breeding barn for Invincible Spirit to serve mares in southern hemisphere time in Ireland will be open from the 1st of September through to the end of November. Fees relating to the keep of the mares to be served will also be significantly reduced. Agistment will be kept to €25 per day, capped at €1,500 should a mare require longer term board.

"In the last month the exploits of the progeny of Invincible Spirit have hit the headlines worldwide.

  • At last week’s famous July Meeting, staged at the home of racing in Newmarket, the Invincible Spirit entire Mayson took the week’s feature race, the July Cup (Gr.1) by five lengths, and in the process earned himself a higher rating than Black Caviar’s performance in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes (Gr.1).
  • At the Royal Ascot meeting his Group One winning daughter, Moonlight Cloud briefly stopped the hearts of a nation by running the great mare to a photo finish over six furlongs in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes (Gr.1).
  • On the Tuesday of the Royal meeting his sire son, Lawman, became a Group One producing sire when his first crop sired son Most Improved was victorious in the St James’s Palace Stakes (Gr.1) over a mile.

"Invincible Spirit's seasons in Victoria, which occurred prior to Vale of York's win in the Breeder's Cup Juvenile (Gr.1), a victory which confirmed Invincible Spirit as a global super sire. His time in Australia produced a strike rate of 65% winners to runners as well as a stakes winner to runner percentage higher than many other well-supported sires. Included in his Australian off-spring is the triple Group One winner of over $1m Yosei.

  • In the 2011 season he was the sire of no less than eleven individual stakes winners, contributing to his overall total of 57 worldwide from seven crops.
  • In the sales ring his yearlings sold to €440,000 at an average of €160,000.
  • During the course of his career he has achieved the rare feat of siring Group One winning two-year-olds in Australia, England and the USA.
