2012 Ascot double for Simenon

Article Date: 23-June-2012

Simenon (by Marju) has been a dual winner at this year's Royal Ascot festival. On Tuesday he took the 2m Ascot Stakes by 6L and now he has scored an easy win in the 2m6f Queen Alexandra Stakes.

The Willie Mullins trained five-year-old was bred by Max Morris. He is out of Epistoliere (by Alzao), who is a full-sister to the Group 2 scorer Epistolaire and a half-sister to Group 2 winner Epitre (by Common Grounds), both stayers.

Marju (by Last Tycoon) has stepped down from stallion duties and he is living in retirement at Derrinstown Stud, from where he has sired many big race winners over the years.
