Camelot (by Montjeu) has confirmed his position as the top three-year-old seen out so far this year with an impressive victory in the Group 1 Investec Derby over 12f at Epsom.
This is the fourth winner of the race for the late Montjeu (by Sadler's Wells) following Motivator (2005), Authorized (2007) and Pour Moi (2011). He stood at Coolmore Stud.
Camelot, who has emulated horses such as Sea The Stars, Nashwan and Nijinsky, as a winner of both the 2000 Guineas and Derby, was bred by Sheikh Abdulla Bin Isa Al-Khalifa and he is trained by Aidan O'Brien. He is out of the Group 3 scorer Tarfah (by Kingmambo) who is out of a stakes winning half-sister to the middle-distance stakes winners Faru (by Mtoto) and Birdie (by Alhaarth).
