11 declared for Irish 2000 Guineas

Article Date: 24-May-2012

Parish Hall (pictured) heads the 11 colts declared to run in Saturday's Abu Dhabi Irish 2000 Guineas at the Curragh.

The Jim Bolger-trained favourite has not been seen since winning the Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket last October. Sure to be suited by the good ground, Parish Hall could yet run in the Epsom Derby a week after the Curragh race.

Aidan O’Brien’s four runners for Saturday's race are led by Power and Daddy Long Legs.

Joseph O'Brien rides Power, Colm O'Donoghue is on Daddy Long Legs, Fran Berry is aboard Reply and Seamie Heffernan partners Wrote.

The John Oxx-trained pair of Takar and Born to Sea are other notable contenders who will attempt to keep the first Irish classic race of the year at home

The strong overseas trained challenge includes Hermival from France, who finished third in the English 2000 Guineas, the Richard Hannon trained Trumpet Major (fourth at Newmarket) and Foxtrot Romeo, trained by Brian Smart

The declarations for the rest of Saturday's card will be made on Friday morning, when the final fields for Sunday's Curragh card will also be confirmed.
