First Group 1 winner Tertullian

Article Date: 19-May-2012

Tertullian (by Miswaki), who could be described as being a three-parts brother to the Group 1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe heroine and outstanding broodmare Urban Sea (by Miswaki), has sired his first Group 1 winner.

Mawingo, who won a 10f Group 3 contest in Germany last year before finishing fourth in the Group 1 Deutsches Derby at Hamburg, has added victory in the Group 1 Kirks Doomben Cup over 10f at Doomben in Australia.

The four-year-old is now trained by Anthony Freedman and he was bred by Gestüt Schlenderhan, which is where Tertullian stands. The colt is out of Montfleur (by Sadler's Wells) who is a half-sister to the smart Japanese horse Seeking The Best (by Seeking The Gold) and whose dam Mackie (by Summer Squall) was a Grade 3 winning half-sister to the Grade 1 Kentucky Derby winner Sea Hero (by Polish Navy).
