Balthazar King breaks course record at Cheltenham

Balthazar King (by King's Theatre) broke the course record when narrowly winning the Glenfarclas Handicap Chase over the 3m7f cross country circuit at Cheltenham.

The eight-year-old is trained by Philip Hobbs and he was bred by Sunnyhill Stud. He is out of Afdala (by Hernando) whose string of winning siblings include the Grade 1 Triumph Hurdle third Afarad (by Slip Anchor) and the listed handicap hurdle winner Afarka (by Kahyasi).

King's Theatre (by Sadler's Wells) stood at Ballylinch Stud. He died in 2011.
