SATURDAY’S card at Kempton Park featured a trio of useful winning performances on the clock. Best of them all was Modus, who won the Lanzarote Handicap Hurdle with a 153 timefigure. Mindful of the quirks he has shown before, he was possibly helped by having a loose horse to follow in the closing stages.

In time terms, this was no better than Modus had achieved when runner-up in the Greatwood Handicap Hurdle at Cheltenham in November, and the winner of that race, North Hill Harvey (155 timefigure), remains one to be interested in assuming all is well with him.
