JESSICA Harrington, a guest at the recent Irish Horse World awards’ lunch as president of Eventing Ireland, was the toast of Leopardstown on Sunday when she saddled Alan and Ann Potts’ Sizing John to win the Grade 1 Stan James Irish Gold Cup Chase.

Ridden by sometime show jumper Robert Power, Sizing John was also welcomed back to the winner’s enclosure by former European young rider event team member Kate Harrington, who went on to land the bumper on her mother’s charge, Someday. Between those two races, another one-time underage team international rider, Katie Walsh, won the hunters’ chase on Foxrock, who is trained by her father, Ted.
