MORE than 200 people on foot and horseback made the most of New Year’s Eve last weekend when the South County Dublin Harriers were in North Kildare.

Huntsman Paul Kerr led the pack with his three daughters and whippers-in Grace, Eva and Catherine on the drag hunt from Celbridge for a spin around fallow fields and then on to some even rougher country known for its steep ditches before returning to Celbridge Manor Hotel. The Harriers welcomed their youngest supporter, Aoibheann McGee, at just 15 weeks old, who celebrated her first Christmas before joining the hunt with her parents, Suzanne and Robbie McGee, and Kayleigh O’Brien (9) on her first full hunt left her cub hunting days well and truly behind. Kayleigh’s grandfather and Harriers Chairman Kevin Mulvey saw that New Year’s Eve was a safe and fun day.
