MYSTIC Spring was bred by Dr Michael Smurfit and sold from his Forenaughts Stud as a yearling at Goffs in 1997 for IR£32,000 to Jeremy Noseda. Trained by him for Fieldspring Racing, she raced seven times and on her final outing, at Wolverhampton in August 1999 won a nine and a half-furlong maiden by half a length.

It was a moderate return for Fieldspring at the time for their investment in the daughter of Breeders’ Cup winner Royal Academy, though they obviously hoped she would do better in the breeding shed as she was out of a winning Secreto full-sister to the 2000 Guineas winner Mystiko.
