Danedream wins the King George
Runaway Arc heroine Danedream (by Lomitas) got up on the line to beat Nathaniel by a nose in the Group 1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes sponsored by Betfair (British Champions Series) over 12f at Ascot this afternoon.
The Peter Schiergen trained four-year-old was bred in Germany by Gestut Brummerhof. She is a four times Group 1 scorer, and she is the fifth foal out of the unraced Danedrop (by Danehill). Her grandam Rose Bonbon (by High Top) was stakes placed in France, and as a daughter of the Group 1 Prix Royal-Oak scorer Lady Berry (by Violon D'Ingres), is a half-sister to the Group 1 winners Vert Amande (by Kenmare), Indian Rose (by General Holme) and Le Nain Jeune (by Pharly).
Lomitas (by Niniski) was standing at Gestut Fahrhof at the time of his death in 2008. He was 22.
