RACING starts earlier than planned at Fairyhouse today due to worries over low-lying sun affecting the two chases on the card. Sunday’s Drinmore Chase has also moved back in the schedule for the same reason.

Track manager Peter Roe explained: “It’s unusual to be worrying about sunshine at this time of year but we have been checking the track this week and noticed long shadows around the three fences coming down from Ballyhack [on the far side of the course] between 12.45pm and 1.45pm. Last year we had to omit these fences on the Saturday card and we don’t want to take a chance again.”
