Bumbasina proved impossible to pass in the home straight with a gutsy display to land the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Fillies Race at Killarney.

Willie McCreery's filly was a winner at Gowran on her reappearance and was always to the fore under Billy Lee.

The 3/1 chance looked in trouble as favourite Angel Island loomed upsides, but she fought bravely in the final furlong and eventually pulled ahead to win by three-quarters of a length.

McCreery said: "I won this last year with Erysimum and if she can go on and do as well it would be great. She's lazy out and Billy said she did the same as Gowran but she still finds."

IMPROVEMENT TO COME

Muzbid showed the benefit of his Cork debut when running out an authoritative winner of the Ross Golf Course Maiden.

Dermot Weld's charge caught the eye when staying on late on his first start and took much closer order under Pat Smullen, tracking the pacesetting One Liner.

The 6/5 favourite took up the running inside the final two furlongs and swept clear, beating Diarist by three lengths.

Smullen said: "He ran very green in Cork and he still showed greenness there. He jumped the roads and he had a fair look at the shadows near the winning post. I think there is a bit of improvement to come from him.

"I thought his run in Cork was good enough for him to win. It's nice to get a maiden win and hopefully he can win a handicap.

FIRST FOR BLACKMORE

Supreme Vinnie (8/1) gave Rachael Blackmore a first winner on the flat when he turned over the well-fancied Aydoun (11/8) in the July Racing Festival 17th-20th 2017 Race. Denise O'Shea's gelding came through with a well-timed challenge to collar long-time leader Aydoun who was representing Dermot Weld and Pat Smullen.

Golden Dandy (8/1) overcame greeness to win the Follow Us On Facebook - Killarney Races Maiden for Ronan Whelan and Patrick Prendergast.

Elsewhere Apparition (8/1) just held on for brothers Donnacha and Joseph O'Brien in the Ladies Day Thursday 20th July 2017 Handicap while the next race provided a similar finish when the Richard Brabazon-trained 6/1 shot Path Of Silver, under the drive of Oisin Orr, just held off the late challenge of Laburnum Park by the minimum margin.

In the closing race, Denis Hogan's Shinghari took advantage of favourite Bay Hill's withdrawal (reared up in the stalls) to win the Killarney Racecourse Handicap under Killian Hennessy.
