THE ISPCA is appealing for information after a malnourished cob was seized from waste ground off Killarney Road in Bray recently.

ISPCA enquiries established that the animal, a cob gelding, was tethered in the same spot for a number of days and it had become entangled in the rope with which it was tied.

“There were a number of serious issues with the welfare of this horse,” commented ISPCA Chief Inspector Conor Dowling, “not only was this horse underweight but it was tethered in a dangerous manner and was surrounded by potentially hazardous rubbish”.

The horse was not microchipped and an owner has not yet been identified. Anybody with any information as to its ownership is asked to contact the ISPCA National Animal Cruelty Helpline in confidence on 1890 515 515 or report online on www.ispca.ie

ISPCA Chief Inspector Dowling added: “I would like to thank the Irish Horse Welfare Trust for their assistance in transporting and accommodating the horse, and an Garda Siochana for their help during the seizure.”
